The Valley Mills Library Association’s Fundraising Committee, chaired by Jordan McNamara is currently planning a family-oriented fundraising event for Saturday, September 28th, 2024, in Santa Fe Park beginning noon until 6:00 p.m. We want the community to SAVE THE DATE for their families to attend this fun day benefiting the Valley Mills Public Library. The block party will include local live music performers; an assortment of vendors and food trucks; a storybook character parade; games and activities for children, a cornhole tournament-and more.

The Valley Mills Library Association’s mission is to provide an opportunity for the community to enrich their lives. The library promotes an appreciation for reading, encourages life-long learning skills and is a source for digital resources and both current and historical general information.  The VML Association operates the local public library and is a stand-alone 501 C-3 Non-profit organization.  The City of Valley Mills contributes vital financial support for some of the library’s expenses. However, more than 30% of our annual budget is generously provided by donations from the local community.  Expenses not paid by the City are paid by local donations, fundraisers and grants.  The organization greatly depends on the involvement and financial support from our local and surrounding communities and businesses.  Funds raised from the Book it to the Block Party will be used to purchase new books, offer free public programs, such as the weekly toddler story time, summer reading program, adult and children art programs, book clubs; and, as we continually assess, develop and add programs to meet the needs of our diverse patron community. This will be the VM Library’s FIRST Book it to the Block Party event.  We think it will be a big success as we plan for it to become an annual event that the citizens of Valley Mills will look forward to each year.  We also believe this (annual) event will stimulate growing community excitement and participation in library activities throughout the year.
